Remark! Community runner up at Deaf Business Awards 2018
On June 16th Steven Wynne, Remark! Community Co-ordinator attended the Deaf Business Awards in Liverpool along with his wife, Philippa Wynne to represent Remark! Community who had been shortlisted for the Outstanding Contribution Award.
Remark! Community were delighted to have been shortlisted after an excellent response from the Deaf Community to vote us into the top three nominations for the night. The Deaf Business Academy had a conference during the day and this was a great opportunity for Deaf Business members to network and to watch some interesting presentations from UCLAN and Heroitt Watt University. At the end of the conference, Dionne Webb surprised everyone with an exciting launch of Business Signs on their website to increase the professionalism of Business networking for Deaf people, along with their interpreters.
It was then time for what everyone had eagerly been awaiting… the award presentation! Steven was very nervous to find out if Remark! Community had been awarded for the best Outstanding contribution to the Deaf Community. The presenter announced the runner up in ascending order and our name came up! Steven was so pleased to have received the runner up certificate and frame however at same time disappointed that Remark! Community had not won the award. The winner went to ‘Support the Deaf People’ – a charity organisation that visit different hotels all over the UK to promote Deaf awareness among staff and encourage them to purchase deaf alerts. We would like to say a massive well done to them!
Steven then went on stage to present the Outstanding Development Award which Remark! had sponsored. Steven explained how pleased Remark! are to sponsor this award and encourage Deaf businesses to develop and grow. The winner went to Queesra and King – A Deaf fashion design company that sells outfits online.
It was a fantastic evening and we are very proud of Remark! Community for coming so close to winning the fantastic award!
