Camden Lunch Club Launch Event is huge success

Our Camden Lunch Club was launched on Friday, 11th October in the lounge at our Remark! Office. It was great to see the room filled with over 30 people! The hall was decorated with Lottery Community Fund banners and photos of our long-running Beckenham and Eltham lunch club.

The special occasion was attended by the Mayor of Camden, Councillor Maryam Eslamdoust Iqbal, who cut the red ribbon to open our newly refurbished kitchen, with lots of celebration from all of us. She spoke positively about the lunch club and how it relates to her work to address discrimination.

Asif Iqbal, Rehabilitation Officer for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People of Camden also attended, and were delighted to have representatives from deafPLUS, RAD and the Jewish Deaf Association attending our launch as well.

Our guest speaker Herbert Klein, Independent Deaf Advisor in Mental Health, explained the link between World Mental Health month and our aim to promote physical and mental wellbeing of our older Deaf community.

Then the Lunch Club continued with a finger buffet and plenty of socialising.

The Lunch Club will continue to meet every Friday at our lounge, at 18 Leather Lane, near Farringdon and Chancery Lane stations.
