Brighton Hit By Freak Event
12th Sept, the local Brightonians had Beckenham lunch Club members attack the largest and most well known seaside resort on the English Channel. They first arrived at the promenade after David had carefully and happily driven many of them there in a minibus. Other members came from the train station and activities were planned.
Ann was whooshed along the pier in her wheelchair (led by Grace’s lightning fast footwork) with Ashley trying to get Steven to push harder, in his Formula 1 chair, and catch up but to no avail, at last coming second at the finishing line, namely the Palm Court Restaurant at the end of the pier. Everyone massed together here after they’d separated to shop, walk or just stroll in the sun shone. Feasted and satisfied, members once again gathered force and surged through the arcade, laughing, joking and competing on the machines along the way.
One stop for coffee before David, once again, gently drove everyone back while they chatted about what they’d seen and done.
Many of the things to be seen are the Royal Pavilion, The Lanes full of antiques and specialised jewellery, the British Airways i360 observation tower standing 531 feet tall, The Toy and Model Museum and the many festivals.
