Southend in the Sun!

We had a fantastic day down in Southend with Eltham Lunch Club. The sun was beaming down all day. We got straight down to business with the most important task…finding some fish & chips! Luckily, this isn’t a very difficult thing to achieve in Southend, so we took our pick from the plethora of options on the sea front.

Stomachs filled we boarded the train to the end of the longest peer in Europe. From both on the train and at the far end the views were stunning. We took time to see the lifeboat station, and for those who were still feeling peckish, treated ourselves to a delicious ice-cream. We were also entertained to regular updates of Indian wickets falling throughout the day due to the amount of cricket fans in the group!

We visited the café where Jimmy and Jamie filmed their latest TV programme. The walls covered in photos of the pair arms round each week’s celebrity guest.

Finally, a walk down the beach to burn off some of those calories before a snoozy train home. A great start to summer seaside trips! We can luck forward to more later in the month as other lunch clubs follow in Eltham’s footsteps.
