Remarkables unveil hidden treasures with John Wilson

Remarkable! Club members were treated to an exclusive, private tour of The Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre in Kidbrooke yesterday, led by esteemed Deaf historian John Wilson. The centre is filled with hidden historical treasures that are usually kept away from the public, but we were treated to a rare glimpse behind the scenes!

The tour took us through the restoration of old paintings, giant boat compasses, miniature ships from all over the world, Nelson's personal possessions, and a giant whaling pot that boiled blubber to make oil! It was an incredible and fascinating overview of some hidden artefacts, many of which were hundreds of years old.

John has played a huge part in providing historic and cultural presentations and tours for our members over the years - we were overjoyed to work with him again, and can't wait to see him in the future! Thank you to him and to the staff at the Royal Maritime Collection for such an amazing trip!
