Another Half Term, Another Playscheme!
With having no Playscheme at Christmas it felt a long time since we pulled up our Playscheme socks and it was good to be back! Some brilliant trips and new activities were on offer as well as a new venue for our North London group.
Laycock Primary School is the new base for the North London Playscheme and it is a fantastic venue that has everything we need and more. The outside playground space allows the children an area to charge around in, clamber on the various climbing frames and goals to score into!
The Youth Group had two fantastic trips out. One to Mercato Metropolitano to learn traditional Italian cooking skills from Head Chief Giovanni where the teenagers learned to make Ravioli using traditional techniques. The other was a behind the scenes tour and day of scientific experiments at the Natural History Museum! We learned about ecology and how to classify insects using a microscope, we saw what effect liquid nitrogen has on a rose and took a trip to the tank room where hundreds of species have been collected over centuries, some collected by Charles Darwin himself!
Though we do take a break at Christmas, we don’t at Easter. Let’s hope we’ve got some equally interesting things planned for then!
